Punjab, Sept. 24 -- Satnam Singh and Salman Khan won bronze in the men's double sculls at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course, clocking 6:13.25. They finished under four seconds off gold.
The race
China's Yi Xudi and Yide Nie took gold in 6:09.37. Uzbekistan's Pavel Sorin and Mekhrojbek Mamatkulov took silver in 6:10.49.
India were 3.88 seconds behind gold and 2.76 behind silver.
In rowing those are meaningful gaps and not enormous ones. Over 2,000 metres, three to four seconds is roughly a length of open water - close enough that the result was live into the last quarter, far enough that it was not in doubt at the line.
