Punjab, Sept. 21 -- Indian Pharmacopoeia standards are now recognised in more than 25 countries, Union Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel said on Monday. The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission has also joined the Pharmacopoeial Discussion Group.
What recognition actually means
A pharmacopoeia is the book of legally enforceable quality standards for medicines - what a drug must contain, how pure it must be, how it is tested.
When a country recognises the Indian Pharmacopoeia, an Indian manufacturer can export there against IP standards rather than re-testing and re-documenting against the importing country's own book.
