Punjab, Sept. 27 -- India took both squash singles silvers and Malaysia took both golds. Anahat Singh lost 3-0 to Sivasangari Subramaniam in 27 minutes. Abhay Singh lost 3-0 to Ng Eain Yow. Both are firsts of a kind for India, and neither is the one anyone wanted.
The two finals
Women's: Sivasangari won 11-4, 11-4, 11-7. Anahat had no answer in the first two games and made the third competitive.
Men's: Ng Eain Yow won 11-9, 11-5, 11-5. Abhay went toe-to-toe in the opener, lost it, and did not recover.
The shape of both is the same: a close first game followed by a widening gap. In squash that usually means the loser spent too much to win points early and had nothing left for the rallies that decide games three and four.
