Punjab, Oct. 15 -- India's embassy in Riyadh has opened a 24x7 control room and advised Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to stay indoors in the event of an aerial attack - the kind of advisory a mission issues for a war zone, for a country that hosts roughly 2.5 million Indians.
The advisory
Indians in Saudi Arabia have been told to remain calm and vigilant and to stay indoors if there is an aerial attack. The control room is to assist the community.
Embassies open control rooms when they expect to field calls they cannot currently handle through normal channels. It is an operational decision rather than a political signal, and it indicates the mission expects the situation to get worse before it gets better.
