Punjab, Sept. 26 -- India retained both kabaddi titles at Aichi-Nagoya, beating Iran in both finals on the same afternoon. The women won 37-34. The men won 40-34. It is India's ninth Asian Games gold in men's kabaddi.
The women went first, and nearly lost it
India led 22-16 at half-time. Iran outscored them 18-15 after the break and finished three points short.
A six-point half-time lead in kabaddi is not safe, and Iran nearly proved it. Second-half comebacks in this sport are built on raid points against a thinning defence, and India spent the closing minutes defending rather than scoring.

Scores tied at the halfway mark, and India pulled clear in the second half to win by six.
