Gukesh winning with black is the result to note. Against a solid opponent, a win with the black pieces means you were not given the game - you took it from a position where a draw was the reasonable outcome.
What 2.5-1.5 costs
A one-point match win is the minimum result. In an Olympiad decided on match points with tiebreaks on game points, narrow wins accumulate a weaker tiebreak score than emphatic ones.
