Two leads, one screen
Pairing Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan puts two actors with very different current positions in the same film. Kumar has been Hindi cinema's most prolific mainstream lead for two decades, with the volume-driven career that implies. Khan has spent recent years choosing sharper, often darker material and has been at his most effective playing against sympathy.
The interesting question with a casting like this is which register the film picks. A star vehicle built around Kumar and a character piece built around Khan are different films, and they are hard to be at once.
