Punjab, Oct. 1 -- The Sensex fell 570.59 points to 71,909.70 and the Nifty 198.50 to 22,421.95 - a fourth straight session down, and an eighth consecutive weekly fall. That is the longest such run in 25 years.
What fell
Auto, media, FMCG, infrastructure, metals, consumer durables and realty all down 2 to 3%. Energy, pharma, PSU banks and oil and gas down more than 1%.
There was nowhere to hide, which is the signature of flow-driven selling rather than a sector story.
The auto number makes no sense until it does
