Fiji, March 4 -- The Kingdom of Tonga has officially begun its e-passport journey.
Tonga convened the inaugural Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting for the Tonga e-passport Project, a multiyear initiative aimed at modernising national legal identity systems, strengthening border security and advancing public sector digitalisation.
The meeting was chaired by Crown Prince Tupouto'a 'Ulukalala and brought together key government agencies, the Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Tonga and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).
Discussions focused on the introduction of secure, internationally compliant electronic passports for Tongan citizens.
