Fiji, Aug. 30 -- Pacific Island countries are pushing for concrete action on climate finance, keeping the 1.5-degree target within reach and strengthening the region's voice in global climate negotiations as preparations gather pace for the pre-COP in Fiji and COP31.

Karlos Lee Moresi, Programme Adviser and Team Leader for Climate Finance and Resilience at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, said the region was using the pre-COP process to strengthen coordination and advance Pacific priorities ahead of COP31.

The pre-COP remains a United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC) process, with its main technical purpose being to build consensus around the agenda for the annual COP.
