Fiji, Oct. 14 -- Nauru's newly elected Members of Parliament will meet today, Tuesday 14 October, for the inaugural sitting of the 25th Parliament, marking the next step in forming the new government.

The session follows the weekend's general elections and the official declaration of results.

The first order of business will be the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Parliament, followed by the election of the President.

Parliament consists of 19 members. Once a Speaker is chosen, 18 MPs will remain eligible to vote for the presidency.

The newly elected Speaker will call for nominations for the top post.
