Bhubaneswar, June 6 -- A youth was detained by police after he allegedly threatened a young woman with a sharp weapon outside Derabish College under Kendrapara police station limits on Saturday.

A video of the incident, which surfaced on social media, showed two young women standing near the college gate while a youth threatened them with a machete. The footage also showed him placing the weapon against the neck of one of the women.

Following this, locals and eyewtinesses present in the area informed the police. Acting on the information, police intervened and detained the youth shortly after and took him for questioning.

The exact reason behind the incident was not established at the time of reporting.
