Bhubaneswar, May 21 -- A youth, who was brutally attacked with a curved dagger over an alleged past enmity in Balasore district, Odisha, succumbed to injuries during treatment on Thursday morning, triggering tension in the locality.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjit Mallik of Junabalada village under Basta police limits.

According to police and local sources, the incident took place on Wednesday evening near Junabalada village when Sanjit was allegedly intercepted and attacked by two youths armed with a sharp-edged weapon. He sustained deep injuries on his abdomen and several other parts of his body during the assault.
