Bhubaneswar, June 5 -- A youth was reportedly swept away while he was taking a dip in the Mahanadi River as per the ritual after the cremation of his grandmother near Ghoradia in Cuttack's Narsinghpur area on Friday.

The missing youth has been identified as Aditya Mallik, son of Prafulla Mallik of Dhanipur village. Rescue teams have launched a search operation, but his body was not recovered at the time of reporting.

According to reports, Aditya went to the Mahanadi river along with his two friends. He reportedly visited the river to take a ritual dip after performing the last rites of his grandmother.
