Bhubaneswar, Feb. 24 -- The bodies of a woman and her minor son, who had been reported missing earlier this week, were recovered from two separate canals in Odisha's Koraput district on Tuesday, triggering suspicion of a premeditated double murder and sending shockwaves across the area.
According to police, the boy's body was found stuffed inside a sack near a canal under Kotpad police limits in Jeypore. Hours later, the body of his mother was recovered from another canal near Jayantgiri.
Sources said the mother and son had been missing since February 21, following which family members lodged a missing complaint at Borigumma police station. Acting on the complaint, police launched a search operation that led to the grim discovery.
