Bhubaneswar, Aug. 5 -- A wild elephant has created severe panic among local residents in Pathapur village under the Dampada region in Odisha'sBanki.

Earlier, a herd of wild elephants entered the village farmland at night. The herd moved through several crop fields and allegedly destroyed large amounts of standing crops. This caused massive financial loss to the villagers as they depended heavily on these crops for their livelihood.

Though most of the elephants in the herd returned to the deep forest, one lone elephant reportedly got left behind in the village area.
