Wild elephant damages school in Odisha's Bolangir, villagers fear for children's safety
Bhubaneswar, Oct. 11 -- An elephant damaged the boundary wall and hand pump of a government primary school in Dadhiapadar village under Muribahal block in Odisha's Bolangir district on Saturday. This prompted the villagers to demand that the school be shifted closer to their homes.
The school is located inside a forest, around 2 km from the village, and has 35 students. The incident raised concerns among villagers over the safety of children and the increasing movement of wild elephants in the area.
The Block Education Officer (BEO) of Muribahal said that steps will be taken soon in response to the issue.
