Bhubaneswar, June 12 -- The Odisha government issued fresh guidelines on Thursday aimed at rationalising the use of official vehicles across departments in response to the fuel and energy challenges triggered by the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

The Finance Department released an office memorandum directing all government departments and offices to strictly adhere to the new measures intended to optimise fuel consumption and reduce the use of official vehicles wherever possible.

According to the memorandum, the instructions were issued "in view of the prevailing fuel and energy challenges arising from the recent West Asia crisis." The state government called for strict compliance by all concerned authorities and officials.
