Bhubaneswar, June 20 -- A retired Odisha government officer, who spent nearly 14 years awaiting his pension and other retirement benefits, has finally secured relief after the Orissa High Court adopted a strict approach, including ordering the suspension of salaries of two senior officials and seeking the personal appearance of a district collector.

Surendra Kumar Choubey, a former District Panchayat Officer in Kalahandi, retired in November 2012. Despite the passage of more than a decade, he continued to be denied regular pension and other admissible retiral dues, prompting him to move the High Court in October 2025.
