Bhubaneswar, May 13 -- Incidents of vehiclefires have witnessed a significant rise in Odisha, particularly during the summer season, raising concerns among authorities and vehicle owners alike.

According to official reports, a total of 183 vehicle fire incidents were recorded in the state between January and April in 2025. However, during the same period in 2026, the number has increased sharply to 349 cases, indicating a worrying upward trend.

The growing number of fire incidents has affected various categories of vehicles, including electric cars, motorcycles, trucks, buses, auto-rickshaws, tractors, ambulances, and JCB machines.
