Bhubaneswar, June 17 -- Serious concerns emerged on Wednesday over the purity of Mahaprasad at Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri after more than 30 packets of Vanaspati ghee from a private brand were allegedly seized while being taken towards the temple kitchen.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage among devotees and servitors, with questions being raised about possible violations of established norms governing Mahaprasad preparation.

As per temple guidelines, only OMFED ghee is permitted for use in preparing Mahaprasad.
