Untimely Rath Yatra in Houston triggers row over Lord Jagannath depiction
Bhubaneswar, April 26 -- Fresh concerns emerged over the organisation of an untimely Rath Yatra abroad, with allegations of arbitrariness levelled against ISKCON following an event held in Houston, USA.
The development drew objections from devotees, particularly over the depiction of Lord Jagannath during the procession.
During the procession, an idol of Lord Jagannath was seen with palms and fingers, prompting strong reactions. As per established Jagannath traditions, the deity is not depicted with hands featuring palms or fingers.
