Bhubaneswar, Sept. 6 -- An undertrial prisoner died at the Paralakhemundi Sub-Jail in Odisha's Gajapati after reportedly falling ill on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Runa Badaraita, a resident of Jirang.

According to reports, Runa complained of feeling unwell while in the jail. Following this, the jail authorities admitted him to a hospital for treatment. However, the doctor declared him dead at the hospital.

Runa was arrested in connection with a POCSO case and was brought to the Paralakhemundi Sub-Jail in August. He was lodged there as an undertrial prisoner.
