Bhubaneswar, July 10 -- The Forest Department has arrested two alleged poachers in connection with the death of a leopard in Kabisuryanagar of Ganjam district, Odisha. The accused were arrested on Thursday and produced before a court later that night.

The arrested persons have been identified as Balaram Bhuyan and Rabindra Gouda. During searches, forest officials seized a large quantity of electric wire, hunting equipment, two blackbuck horns, and eight wild boar tusks from their possession.

The arrests come after the carcass of a leopard was recovered from the Jarada village forest on July 8. The animal was found hanging from a tree, following which the Forest Department launched an investigation.
