Traffic disrupted after villagers block NH-149 opposing proposed medical waste plant in Angul
Bhubaneswar, June 17 -- A 12-hour road blockade was observed on National Highway-149 on Wednesday as residents of Sipur village in Odisha's Angul district protested against a proposed medical waste management plant.
People from 10 neighbouring villages also joined the agitation, demanding to scrap the project.
As part of the agitation, protesters staged a demonstration at Sardhapur Hat Chowk on National Highway-149 and blocked the road to press for their demands.
Protesters demanded the complete cancellation of the proposed project, alleging concerns over the establishment of the facility in Sipur village.
