Bhubaneswar, June 8 -- A tragic incident unfolded in Talcher on Monday after three friends were swept away by the strong current of the Brahmani River while bathing near the Jagannath temple ghat.

According to sources, the three youths had entered the river for a bath when they were suddenly caught in the current and swept away. The incident triggered panic among local residents, who immediately alerted authorities and rescue teams.

Following the alert, Fire Services personnel rushed to the spot and launched a search and rescue operation. During the operation, one of the youths was successfully recovered from the river. Unfortunately, he was already dead by the time he was rescued.
