Tatkal ticket booking gets easier: Indian Railways introduces token system at reservation counters
India, July 28 -- Booking Tatkal train tickets at railway reservation counters is set to become more organised from August 1, with Indian Railways introducing a new token system aimed at reducing long queues and speeding up the booking process.
Introduced by the West Central Railway (WCR), the new system will allow passengers to collect a token during a designated time slot and return when their turn arrives, instead of waiting in queues for hours before Tatkal bookings open.
Under the revised system, tokens for AC Tatkal bookings will be issued between 8:30 am and 9:00 am, while tokens for non AC Tatkal bookings will be distributed from 9:00 am to 9:30 am.
