Bhubaneswar, July 8 -- In the wake of the Tamil Nadu gas tragedy, Odisha government stepped up measures to curb illegal labour trafficking and regulate the movement of migrant workers.

Labour Minister issued a stern warning to labour agents, stating that strict action will be taken against those who lure minors and workers with false promises and send them outside the State without registration.

The Labour Department has started identifying labour agents involved in sending workers without valid registration. Directions have also been issued to sarpanchs and Panchayat Executive Officers (PEOs) to maintain complete records of every worker leaving their respective panchayats for employment outside Odisha.
