Bhubaneswar, June 4 -- The Supreme Court has ruled that candidates possessing higher educational qualifications cannot be selected for jobs that are specifically intended for applicants with lower qualifications.

The court observed that concealing higher educational qualifications to secure such a post undermines the fairness of the recruitment process and deprives genuinely eligible candidates of employment opportunities. The ruling came while deciding a case involving the appointment of a temporary bank attendant in Syndicate Bank.

The post of bank attendant was reserved for candidates who had studied up to Class 10. However, it was later found that the employee had not disclosed that he was a graduate while applying for the position....
