Bhubaneswar, June 5 -- Odisha government appointed Sudhansu Sekhar Barpanda as a member of the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC). The position of chairperson, however, remains vacant.

Energy Department issued a notification announcing Barpanda's appointment. Prior to this, he was serving as a Director at the Grid Controller of India.

Former OERC Chairman Pradeep Jena resigned from the post on May 25, citing personal reasons. Following his resignation, the Commission was left with two members.

One of them, Susanta Ray Mohapatra, completed his tenure on May 20. This created another vacancy in the regulatory body. Barpanda was appointed in place of Mohapatra.
