Bhubaneswar, June 6 -- A robbery bid at a jewellery shop near Patapol Chhak under Chandipur police limits in Balasore district of Odisha was foiled on Friday after the shopkeeper raised an alarm and family members rushed to his rescue.

According to sources, three miscreants allegedly entered the shop, threatened the owner with a sharp weapon and attempted to carry out the robbery in broad daylight.

The incident occurred at a jewellery shop owned by Sanjit Kamila, son of Gobinda Kamila of Patapol. Though the accused failed to take away any gold ornaments, they managed to flee with the shopkeeper's mobile phone. CCTV footage of the entire incident has since surfaced.
