Bhubaneswar, Aug. 14 -- West Bengal Police have arrested former Trinamool Congress MLA Nirmal Ghosh from a hotel in Odisha's Balasore district in connection with the RG Kar rape and murder case.

Ghosh was arrested from a hotel in the Simulia area of Balasore on Thursday evening over his alleged involvement in the hurried cremation of the doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata in 2024.

According to police sources, Ghosh had been staying at the hotel in Jamujhadi for the past several days. West Bengal Police traced his location by tracking his mobile phone and approached Simulia Police for assistance. He was subsequently arrested from the hotel at around 4.30 pm.
