Bhubaneswar, Aug. 10 -- The Rengali Dam in Odisha's Angul district's Kaniha block released floodwater for the second time this year as rising inflow increased the reservoir level. Water is being released through Gate No. 8 and the power channel at a rate of around 2,000 cubic metres per second. Authorities have alerted people living downstream and advised them to stay away from the river.

The release follows rainfall in the upper catchment areas, which has increased the inflow into the reservoir. At present, around 2,500 cubic metres of water is entering the reservoir every second, while about 2,000 cubic metres is being released.

The Rengali reservoir has a full storage level of 123.50 metres. Its current water level stands at 122.14 m...
