Bhubaneswar, April 24 -- Construction work for the annual Rath Yatra gathered momentum at the Rathakhala in Puri. Servitors intensified efforts on key components of the three chariots.
Work on three 'tumbas' for the three chariots is currently underway as part of the initial construction phase. Out of the total 42 tumbas required, 21 have already been shaped as per specifications and supplied by the Karati sevayats. These have been distributed equally, with seven each provided to the three chariots' 'chali'.
By Thursday, the Maharana sevayats had completed the rounding work of 10 tumbas using traditional tools, marking steady progress in the construction process.
