Rain continues to batter Odisha: IMD issued red alert for Keonjhar, Sundargarh; orange alert in 6 districts
Bhubaneswar, Sept. 1 -- Heavy rainfall continued to lash several parts of Odisha under the influence of a low-pressure system, leaving normal life affected across northern and western districts.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts until 8:30 am today. The warning comes amid the possibility of intense rainfall that could trigger waterlogging, flash floods and disruption to road communication in vulnerable areas.
An orange alert for very heavy rainfall has been issued for six districts, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul and Mayurbhanj.
