Power outage triggers protest, road blockade in Odisha's Bhadrak
Bhubaneswar, April 9 -- Tension prevailed in Bideipur village under Basudevpur Block of Odisha's Bhadrak district after residents staged a protest on Thursday, over a prolonged power outage in the area that reportedly lasted for three days.
According to reports, the village had been without electricity after a power pole was damaged due to the impact of a recent Nor'wester.
The affected pole, located near the house of one Dija Mallick, had earlier been a subject of dispute, as his family had opposed the installation of electric lines passing close to their residence.
When officials from the Electricity Department arrived to carry out repair work and restore power supply, they allegedly faced resistance from Mallick's family...
