Bhubaneswar, Aug. 15 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a major initiative to provide free online coaching for various competitive examinations. This is aimed at reducing the financial burden on students and their families.

Addressing the nation from the Red Fort on Independence Day, PM Modi said the growing dependence on coaching classes has become a major burden, particularly for middle-class families.

He said many parents feel compelled to send their children to coaching centres because of social expectations and concerns that not doing so could put their children at a disadvantage.
