Bhubaneswar, Aug. 10 -- Odisha's seafood exports are gaining attention beyond prawns, with the state's indigenous marine fish finding growing demand in overseas markets. Borei fish from Paradip is particularly sought after in countries across the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with around 8.5 million kg exported from Paradip over the past eight years.

Odisha's indigenous marine fish varieties such as Borei, Paniakhia and Kantia are gaining popularity in overseas markets including Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian countries. Borei's oily variety is specifically in high demand, while its scales are used to prepare traditional soups.
