Bhubaneswar, Sept. 25 -- As many as 1,741 errors have been detected in the new textbooks for Classes 1 to 8 in Odisha, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond informed the Assembly on Friday.

Replying to a question by MLA Gautam Buddha Das, the minister said the government was continuing to supply error-free textbooks to students. Around Rs 175 crore has been spent on the printing and supply of the textbooks.

The minister said action has been taken against 10 persons over the errors in the textbooks. Disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against six deputy directors.

Three deputy directors, including a former director, have been suspended in connection with the matter, Gond said.
