OTV impact: Drinking water woes end as hand pump installed in Sundargarh village
Bhubaneswar, June 26 -- An OTV report highlighting the drinking water crisis in a remote village of Odisha's Sundargarh has prompted swift action from the administration, with a new hand pump now installed for residents.
The hand pump has been installed at Purunapani village under Dhinkiamar in Darjing panchayat of Lahunipada block. For years, the village had no adequate source of drinking water, forcing residents to walk long distances and even cross a nullah to fetch water.
Villagers said there was only one hand pump in the village, which was not enough to meet the needs of all residents. During the rainy season, crossing the nullah to collect drinking water became even more difficult.
