The Orissa High Court on Thursday directed the Odishagovernment to take firm steps to prevent cow slaughter.
During the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), the Court directed the authorities to enforce stringent measures to curb such incidents. The Court also ordered strict implementation of the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, 1960.
The PIL was filed by the organization Gojnyan, highlighting some incidents of cow slaughter in Cuttack. The petitioner brought these incidents to the court's attention, prompting the directive for stricter enforcement of existing laws.
