India, Sept. 15 -- The health condition of the five orangutans rescued from a forested area in Balasore district and currently housed at Nandankanan Zoological Park is showing signs of improvement, zoo authorities said on Tuesday.

The health condition of all five orangutans is largely stable and they are responding well to their new surroundings. According to the Nandankanan authorities, the animals are consuming food normally and have also been observed moving around and playing comfortably.

The zoo authorities are maintaining close surveillance of the rescued orangutans as part of their ongoing health assessment. Stool samples of two male orangutans are currently being examined to assess their health condition.
