Bhubaneswar, Aug. 27 -- A woman died after allegedly being bitten by a venomous snake while working in a garden behind her house in Odisha's Deogarh district on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Geetanjali Naik, wife of Harihar Naik, a resident of Gadiapal village under Budhapal panchayat and Kundheiigola police station limits in Deogarh district.

According to reports, Geetanjali was engaged in routine work in the garden located behind her house when a snake reportedly bit her on the hand. Initially, she is said to have continued with her work, apparently unaware of the seriousness of the bite. However, after some time, her health began to deteriorate rapidly.
