Bhubaneswar, Sept. 29 -- From allegedly accepting bribes to facing disproportionate assets cases, a number of women government officials in Odisha have come under the scanner of the Vigilance Directorate in recent months.

The latest case involves Bandita Dash, Assistant Engineer of Badachana Block in Jajpur district, who was arrested by Odisha Vigilance along with her alleged associate Somonath Sethy for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 35,000.

According to the Vigilance, the bribe was allegedly sought for releasing a security deposit and clearing pending bills related to construction work at a school. Following a trap, both accused were apprehended and the alleged bribe amount was recovered.
