Odisha under red alert, low-pressure system intensifies
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 13 -- Odisha is set to receive very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours under the influence of a low-pressure area, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.
According to reports, IMD issued a red alert in view of the expected weather conditions. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue till August 16.
The well-marked low-pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining Bangladesh-West Bengal coast moved northwestwards. As of 5:30 am on Thursday, it centred over the West Bengal coast and adjoining Bangladesh and the northwest Bay of Bengal.
