Bhubaneswar, Sept. 28 -- Odisha's debt burden is expected to reach Rs 1.48 lakh crore by March 2027, according to a written reply by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the Assembly.

The state's per capita debt burden is also projected to reach Rs 31,344 by March 2027.

The figures were provided in response to a question in the Assembly on the state's debt position. The government has stated that the loans taken since 2005-06 are being used entirely for capital expenditure.

According to the Chief Minister's reply, none of the borrowed money is being spent on revenue expenditure.
