Bhubaneswar, Sept. 24 -- A large tree was uprooted on the Jatani-Pipili main road near Mathasahi in Odisha's Puri district on Thursday amid heavy rainfall and strong winds, disrupting vehicular movement for nearly two hours.

The tree fell in front of Pallavi School at Mathasahi and completely blocked the road, bringing traffic to a halt in both directions. Several vehicles remained stranded on either side of the stretch as commuters waited for the obstruction to be cleared.

The incident occurred while the area was witnessing persistent rain accompanied by gusty winds. The adverse weather conditions are believed to have caused the tree to fall across the busy road.
