Bhubaneswar, April 1 -- The Odisha government on Tuesday night withdrew four key amendment bills proposing a three-fold increase in the salaries, allowances, and pensions of MLAs, ministers, and other constitutional functionaries, shortly before the Assembly's budget session was adjourned sine die, five days ahead of schedule.
The session, which commenced on February 17, was originally slated to continue till April 8. However, the House approved a proposal moved by Government Chief Whip Saroj Kumar Pradhan to adjourn the session early, citing a lack of pending legislative business.
