Odisha extends summer holidays in several districts due to heatwave, morning classes for Nuapada
Bhubaneswar, June 17 -- The continuing heatwave across several parts of Odisha has prompted district administrations to take precautionary measures to protect students from extreme weather conditions. While some districts have decided to extend summer vacations, others have opted for revised school timings to minimise exposure to the scorching heat.
In Angul district, the summer vacation has been extended till June 20, with schools scheduled to reopen on June 22. The district administration said the decision was taken in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions and concerns over student safety.
A similar decision has been taken in Subarnapur district, where schools and colleges will remain closed until June 20.
