Bhubaneswar, March 12 -- The Excise Department seized 110 kg of ganja and arrested five persons during a raid on National Highway-16 in Berhampur on Thursday. Officials also seized a container, two cars, a bike and four mobile phones during the operation.

The seizure was made after the Excise Intelligence Department acted on specific information about illegal transportation of ganja from Kandhamal and Gajapati districts to Tamil Nadu.

According to officials, the Excise Intelligence Department carried out raids at Kanisi and Soral Chhak along NH-16 in Berhampur after receiving reliable inputs about the movement of the contraband.
